The Solution process is a heat treatment that consists of heating the alloy until all the elements are in solution/dissolved, followed by a quick cooling to prevent that these elements precipitate again. In this way, it is possible to reduce differences in the concentration of alloying elements through the diffusion, in order to reduce heterogeneities (microsegregation).
APLICATIONS
Austenitic and precipitation stainless steels, nickel-based alloys, titanium-based alloys, etc. in which the aim is to regenerate an inadequate structure from a previous process (casting, welding, etc.), to improve the machining or to obtain adequate properties with a subsequent precipitation treatment.
